Itinerary of 2 days tour from Errachidia to Merzouga Desert:

Day 1: from Errachidia to Merzouga Desert via the Ziz Valley and Erfoud city

We will start our 2 days tour from Errachidia to Merzouga by  picking you up from your hotel or airport and drive you to Errachidia, a charming city with a Saharan climate and a breathtaking view of palm trees and mountains. After that, we will visit the breathtaking Saharan desert dunes. Along the way, we will stop in the town of Erfoud, which is also referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara Desert” because of its proximity to the Erg Chebbi dunes and its profusion of stores selling fossils and Saharan clothing. 

We will arrive to Merzouga, in where you start your camel ride towards the camp. During the way will stop at the highest dune on our camel ride through the Sahara Desert to observe the amazing sunset. This is also a fantastic chance for you to take pictures of yourself with the priceless golden dunes in the background.

In the camp the locals will welcome you with a Berber mint tea. After dinner the party will start and the locals will play their Drums music for you around a bonfire in a starry night. You will take the chance to listen, dance and even to learn how to play drums.  

Day 2: from Merzouga Desert to Errachidia through Rissani and the Ziz Valley

We will have a sumptuous breakfast after a stunning sunrise in the desert to start the second day of our 2 days tour  from Errachidia to Merzouga, and then we will ride camels back to Merzouga. We will embark on a daylong expedition through the Merzouga desert by driving behind the dunes in a 4WD vehicle. Later on we will be visiting a village of people with heavy black skin who were once slaves from Sudan and listen to their Gnawa music and have lunch their which will be the Berber pizza. We will have the chance to meet and learn about a nomadic family close to the Algerian-Moroccan borders.

After this desert tour will drive few miles to Erissani or Sujlmassa, that is famous of its traditional market or souk. We will have a walk in this old Souk. We will finish our tour by driving towards Errachidia city passing by one of the longest valleys in Morocco that is called Ziz valley.  Drop you off  in the hotel or the airport in  Errachidia.

  • Camel ride per each in Merzouga desert.
