8 Days Desert Tour from Agadir to the Sahara Desert

Day 1: Agadir – Taroudante –  Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate 

We start our 8 days Morocco tour from Agadir to the Sahara desert from Agadir in the morning the we take the road towards Taliouine, which is known as the town of saffron, will be our first stop. After stopping at a co-operative, that cultivates the spices, you will see the traditional spices and get an explanation about them by the locals. We will continue to Agdez, where we will have lunch. 

We will also stop by Tamnougalte Village, the Southeast’s oldest Kasbah to see incredible performances and take pictures. Our next stop as we travel is Ait ben Haddou Kasbah, sited as UNESCO world heritage in 1987. As it was also a location to film many international movies as Gladiatour, the Mumy, GOT and so many others. A charming hotel/Riad will be your home for the dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Tinghir – Erfoud – Merzouga

Breakfast will be served before we depart for Todra Gorge. We will stop for a quick visit at the Kasbah Amridil in the Skoura palm grove on the way to the Valley of the Roses and the Dades Valley. When we get there, we will have lunch and take a stroll through the Todra Valley. Following that, we will continue to Todra. 

Before continuing on the road to Erfoud through several Berber villages, stop by the Erfoud marble fossils. We will continue to the impressive Erg Chebbi in Merzouga after our camel excursion to view the sunset in the dunes. You will be accommodated in the tents of the Saharan nomads, where you can enjoy the desert’s solitary atmosphere and starry sky. Dinner and sleeping arrangements are to be made at the bivouac.

Day 3: Merzouga – Alnif – Zagora

In the early morning the stuff of the camp will wake up to see the sunrise above the dunes. After breakfast you will camp by the camels or by the 4×4 car to take the road towards Zagora. Then, after returning by camel, we will have breakfast and take a shower at the hostel. Through the towns of Rissani, Alnif, Tazzarine, and N’Koub, we will depart the Merzouga dunes in search of the Tafilalet palm. Let us proceed with our journey to Zagora by going over the Draa Valley. We will stay at the hotel for dinner and the night.

Day 4: Zagora – Agdz – Ouarzazate

As we continue our adventure in the morning, we will stop at Tansikhte, the Valley of Draa, and a few other incredible locations. The vast Agdz palm grove will also be visited, where you can later explore the charming towns and magnificent Kasbahs. Moreover, we will continue on our journey toward Ouarzazate while passing through the Anti-Atlas and the Tizi N’Tinififft pass (1660 m). In the end, we will stay the night in Ouarzazate.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait ben Haddou – Marrakech

We will have a delicious Berber breakfast and then travel to the panoramic and most popular Kasbah in Morocco, Ait Ben Haddou. It has been selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it looks like an amazing place to spend a full day between the impeccable building and unique architecture. In addition, it is located around the river and oases, which gives it an overarching vision. Briefly, in Ait Ben Haddou, there are restaurants to have lunch in before traveling to Marrakech through Tizi N’Ticheka Pass.

Day 6: Marrakech Guided city tour

After breakfast in your Riad, you will meet your local guide to accompany you for Marrakech guided tour. Marrakech is a vibrant city in Morocco known for its rich history, colorful markets, stunning architecture, and lively atmosphere. A guided tour will help you navigate the city and make the most of your visit. You will Start your tour in the heart of Marrakech at Djemaa el-Fna, the main square. This bustling square is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is known for its lively atmosphere, street performers, food stalls, and snake charmers. 

Explore the square and soak in the vibrant ambiance. Next you walk few minutes to the Koutoubia Mosque. It is the largest mosque in Marrakech and an iconic landmark. Admire its impressive architecture and towering minaret, and learn about its historical significance. Later you go towards Bahia Palace, a stunning 19th-century palace known for its exquisite Moroccan architecture and beautiful gardens. Explore the intricately decorated rooms, courtyards, and serene gardens.  

Saadian Tombs will be the next  place to visit, an important historical site dating back to the 16th century. These tombs were discovered in 1917 and house the remains of members of the Saadian dynasty. Admire the intricate decorations and architecture of the tombs. Moreover you will Explore the Maderassa Ben Youssef, a historic Islamic college that dates back to the 14th century. Marvel at the stunning courtyard, intricate tile work, and beautifully carved wooden ceilings. Learn about the history and significance of this religious institution. 

You will also cross The Souks, you will be experiencing these vibrant markets, known as souks. Wander through the narrow alleyways and get lost in a maze of shops selling a variety of goods such as spices, textiles, leather goods, ceramics, and traditional Moroccan crafts. You will have a free afternoon to visit other recommended places by your own like Jardin Majorelle, Menara Garden, and so on. Overnight in your Riad.

Day 7: Marrakech – Essaouira

On the 7th day of our 8 days Morocco tour from Agadir to the Sahara desert we will leave Marrakech behind and travel to Essaouira or Mougador. On our way we will enjoy many landscapes. As we continue our journey, we will pass through the region of the Argan tree plantations. These trees are endemic to Morocco and are known for producing argan oil, a highly valued cosmetic and culinary product. We will stop in the famous Goats argan tree. Also we will have the chance to stop by a cooperative or a local store to learn about the argan oil production process and purchase some authentic products. 

Next we drive towards to Essaouira to have enough time to enjoy this coastal city. It is famous of the beautiful beaches and the festival of Gnawa. You can visit the old Medina of the city and do not miss to watch the sunset beside the beach. Also do not forget to try the fresh fish dishes in this city because it is one of the cities famous of delicious fishes. 

Day 8: Essaouira – Agadir

On the last day of 8 days Morocco tour from Agadir to the Sahara desert. We will start the our by going to  Sidi Kaouki. Located approximately 20 kilometers south of Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki is a charming coastal village known for its beautiful beaches. Continuing south we will reach Taghazout, a popular destination for surfers and beach lovers. Taghazout offers fantastic waves and a laid-back vibe.

Further south from Taghazout, w will pass by Paradise Valley, a hidden gem tucked away in the mountains. It’s a picturesque oasis with natural swimming pools, waterfalls, and lush greenery. Take a dip in the refreshing pools or enjoy a hike through the stunning surroundings. Before reaching Agadir, Aglou Beach is worth a visit.
