Itinerary

4 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech

Day 1: Fes  → Ifrane   → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

Your desert adventure begins after breakfast as we pick you up from your accommodation. Our first stop is Ifrane, a charming town called the “Switzerland of Morocco” or the “Little Europe”. After a short drive we will , pausing in ancient cedar forests to meet the region’s famous Barbary macaques. After then, we continue our journey  into the Middle Atlas Mountains. After a flexible lunch stop, we will continue towards the desert, pausing to admire the stunning panoramic view over the  Ziz Valley.

In the late afternoon, we will arrive at the edge of the Sahara, where you will start an adventure with the camels. You will across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi , with a stop in a high dune to witness a breathtaking sunset. You will a magical evening  at your luxury desert camp, where you will enjoy the Berber music and stories with the locals around a campfire under a spectacular sky of stars.


Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration

After breakfast, we start our 4×4 desert tour begins with visiting the Khamlia village to experience traditional Gnawa music played by the inhabitants of the village who were originally brought as refugees. We will then take an off-road drive to the abandoned mining village of MiFis. Where the locals nowadays mine the coal.

A key highlight of the day is a cultural visit to a nomadic family. You will be hosted into their tent for tea and conversation, offering a genuine glimpse into the Berber nomadic lifestyle near the Algerian border. Today you will have the chance to try the Berber pizza for lunch.

In the afternoon, check in to your traditional Riad. the rest of the day will be free to relax or to enjoy some of the extra desert activities as Atv quads or Buggy ride. Dinner and overnight at the Riad. 

Note that it is possible to spend another night at the camp if you want. 


Day 3: Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Dades Gorge

After breakfast, our adventure continues as we embark on a scenic journey towards the Dades Gorge, traveling through a series of captivating Berber towns and landscapes, including Erfoud and Tinghir. Our route takes us through the historic trading town of Rissani, should your visit coincide with the market day (Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Sundays), you will have the chance to immerse yourself in a truly authentic Moroccan souk. This is a vibrant cultural hub where you can discover traditional crafts, aromatic spices, and local life. Along the way, we will make several stops at breathtaking viewpoints, allowing you to capture the stunning scenery and learn about the region’s rich heritage.

Our main stop of the day is the Todgha gorge. Where you will have a walk beside the river. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the magnificent Dades Gorge. You will check into your Riad overlooking to the canyon, where a delightful dinner and a restful night await.


Day 4: Dades Gorge Ouarzazate→ Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah High Atlas Mountains → Marrakech

After breakfast, we depart from the Dades Gorge, traveling the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to Ouarzazate. We will make a stop for photos at the Atlas Film Studios, followed by a guided exploration of the historic Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, a  UNESCO world heritage site. Where they filmed many international movies such as Gladiator I and part II. 

Following lunch, the journey continues with a scenic drive over the High Atlas Mountains. We will cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest major mountain pass in North Africa, making stops along the way to appreciate the stunning views.

    How do I get to and from the desert camp?

    Your private driver will take you to the desert area, where you will meet the camel team or take a 4×4 transfer to the camp crossing the dunes with a stop a long the way to enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

    The following day, you will have again two included options for the way back, either camels or Jeep. Also you have alternative options with extra charge which are Atv quads or Dune buggy.

    What is the plan once we get to the desert camp?

    After enjoying the camel ride or 4×4 and the sunset over the dunes, You will check into your tent, have dinner, and spending the evening around the bonfire with traditional music played by the local under starry skies.

    The following morning, you can watch the sunrise from the nearby dunes to the camp, have breakfast, and then leave the camp by camel ride or Jeep to continue your Morocco tour.
