6 Days Desert Tour from Fes

Day 1: Fes  

Your 6-day journey commences with an immersive guided tour of the Medina of Fes, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. With a knowledgable local guide, you will navigate the ancient medina, discovering historical and cultural sites like the Andalusia Mosque, the world-famous tanneries, the intricate El-Attarine Madrassa, and the esteemed Quarraouine Mosque and University. Pass through the grand Bab Boujloud gate and delve into history at the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts. A free afternoon to enjoy by your own. 


Day 2: Fes  Azrou → Midelt 

After breakfast, we start our desert adventure toward Erg Chebbi. We travel through the Middle Atlas mountains to reach the city of Ifrane or called as the Swidzerland of Morocco. A stop to strech the legs. Next we drive to the vast cedar forests of Azrou. Here, you will have the chance to meet the region’s famous Barbary macaques. The route offers stunning panoramas of mountain springs and traditional Berber villages dotting the landscape. Your day concludes upon arrival in Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas mountains, for dinner and your overnight stay.


Day 3: Midelt → Erfoud Merzouga

Today’s destination will be Merzouga. The landscape transforms dramatically as you pass through the magnificent Ziz Valley, a vast canyon filled with lush palm groves . Upon reaching Merzouga, the gateway to the great dunes, you will check into your local accommodation for dinner and rest before your desert immersion begins.


Day 4: Merzouga desert exploration and camel trek

This full day is dedicated to the wonders of the Sahara desert. After a tasty breakfast we head to visit the village of Khamlia to experience the soulful sounds of Gnawa music played by the Gnawa people who were originally brought as refugees and they integrated with the locals. After we explore the area’s deserted mines of Kohl and Quartz.  After we will share a cup of tea with a Berber nomad family to learn about their way of life. A tasty Berber pizza will be served for lunch on this day. 

In the afternoon, you’ll mount your camel for an unforgettable ride into the  golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. On the way you will stop to relish the stunning sunset. Tonight is spent in a traditional desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a campfire dinner, the rhythmic beat of Berber drums under starry sky.


Day 5: Merzouga Rissani Todra Gorge Ouarzazate

An early start allows you to witness the breathtaking spectacle of the sun rising over the Saharan dunes. After this magical moment and breakfast at the camp,  we will start our day toward Ouarzazate, stopping first in Rissani to visit an authentic local market. Our route continues through the magnificent Todra Gorges, where you can take a walk under the highest canyon in Morocco, before arriving in Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight stay in a riad or kasbah.


Day 6: Ouarzazate Ait Benhaddou Marrakech

Your final day begins with a tour of Ouarzazate, Morocco’s cinematic capital, including the historic Kasbah of Taourirt and the famous Atlas Film Studios. From there, you will visit the magnificent Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, a remarkable fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage site that has served as a backdrop for numerous films among them Gladiator I and part II. The final leg of your tour is a spectacular drive over the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, stopping for lunch and photo opportunities. You will descend into Marrakech in the late afternoon, concluding your incredible journey.

    How do I get to and from the desert camp?

    Your private driver will take you to the desert area, where you will meet the camel team or take a 4×4 transfer to the camp crossing the dunes with a stop a long the way to enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

    The following day, you will have again two included options for the way back, either camels or Jeep. Also you have alternative options with extra charge which are Atv quads or Dune buggy.

    What is the plan once we get to the desert camp?

    After enjoying the camel ride or 4×4 and the sunset over the dunes, You will check into your tent, have dinner, and spending the evening around the bonfire with traditional music played by the local under starry skies.

    The following morning, you can watch the sunrise from the nearby dunes to the camp, have breakfast, and then leave the camp by camel ride or Jeep to continue your Morocco tour.

    What activities can we do during this tour?

    Beside the activities that you have already included in the tour, you can enjoy extra activities as Atv quads, Dune buggy,or horse ride in the Sahara desert.

    However, if you prefer a slower experience, we can arrange an additional night in the desert. This gives you more time to relax and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
