4 Days Desert Tour from Fes

Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Merzouga

Your 4 days journey begins as we depart from Fes, traveling south toward Ifrane, a tranquil town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco”. a stop to strech the legs and enjoy the fresh air. Our route continues to the ancient cedar forests of Azrou, where you can observe and photograph the playful Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. We then cross the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains, pausing to admire the dramatic landscapes around Midelt before stopping for lunch.

In the afternoon, the scenery transforms as we descend into the lush Ziz Valley, a verdant oasis. Upon arriving in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara, you will be welcomed with traditional mint tea before settling into your Riad for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration

After breakfast, we start our 4×4 desert tour to explore the desert’s rich culture. The day includes a visit to the Gnawa village, where you listen to the spiritual and rhythmic music of its people, whose origins trace back to Mali and Sudan. We will then venture off-road to explore the abandoned kohl mines of Mifis. After you we will be welcomed into the tent of a local nomadic family for tea and conversation to learn about their daily life. Today you will have a special dish called the Berber pizza for lunch.

The afternoon’s adventure begins, an iconic camel ride into the vast dunes of Erg Chebbi. You’ll pause to witness a breathtaking sunset from atop a high dune before arriving at your desert camp in the heart of the desert to enjoy a tasty dinner and the Berber drums with the locals. Spend a magical night under the stars.

Day 3: Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

Wake up early to greet the day with a spectacular sunrise from the nearby dunes. Following breakfast at the camp, our journey continues toward the Dades Valley. We will travel via Tinghir to the gorgeous Todra Gorge, Morocco’s highest and narrowest canyon. Here, you will have time to stroll along the cool riverbed, hike among the towering rock walls.. In the afternoon, we travel along the picturesque Dades Valley, famous for its unique rock formations, arriving at your Riad nestled within the gorge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Dades Valley → Errachidia → Fes

Following breakfast, we begin our scenic return journey to Fes. Heading north through Midelt, you may see nomadic communities with their traditional goat-hair tents. After a lunch break, we ascend back into the Middle Atlas Mountains, with opportunities for a final coffee stop in the charming town of Ifrane. Your unforgettable 4-day desert adventure concludes in the late afternoon with a drop-off at your accommodation in Fes.

How do I get to and from the desert camp?

Your private driver will take you to the desert area, where you will meet the camel team or take a 4×4 transfer to the camp crossing the dunes with a stop a long the way to enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

The following day, you will have again two included options for the way back, either camels or Jeep. Also you have alternative options with extra charge which are Atv quads or Dune buggy.

What is the plan once we get to the desert camp?

After enjoying the camel ride or 4×4 and the sunset over the dunes, You will check into your tent, have dinner, and spending the evening around the bonfire with traditional music played by the local under starry skies.

The following morning, you can watch the sunrise from the nearby dunes to the camp, have breakfast, and then leave the camp by camel ride or Jeep to continue your Morocco tour.

What activities can we do during this tour?

Beside the activities that you have already included in the tour, you can enjoy extra activities as Atv quads, Dune buggy,or horse ride in the Sahara desert.

Also you can enjoy a Hike in Dades or Todra Gorges. These activities can be requested during the booking process or during the trip too.
