Itinerary

4 Days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes

Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains Skoura  Dades Gorges

Your 4-day desert adventure commences with a morning pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. We will begin our journey by ascending into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, navigating the winding Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along this scenic route, your driver will pause at key panoramic viewpoints, offering ample opportunities for photos and to simply soak in the mountain scenery.

After a break for lunch in the vicinity of Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, our route continues toward the Dades Gorges via the lush Skoura oasis. Where you will have the chance to explore the magnificent Amridil Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most impressive fortified residences. Then we will pass by the  Valley of Roses. If your visit coincides with spring, the valley is a fragrant tapestry of blooming roses, a special sight we can stop to admire.

Upon reaching the Dades Gorges, you’ll be captivated by its dramatic landscapes, including the peculiar ‘monkey fingers’ rock formations and a stunning panoramic overlook of the gorge itself. We will then settle into our hotel for the evening, where you can relax before dinner.

Day 2: Dades Gorges  → Merzouga Desert

Following breakfast, we’ll begin with a scenic drive toward Tinghir, admiring the lush palm groves and traditional Berber villages that line the Todra river. This path leads us to the magnificent Todra Gorge, a colossal canyon with sheer rock walls that is considered one of the most impressive natural sites in Morocco. You will have a walk in this canyon to enjoy some pictures.

As we continue toward the Sahara, we offer an optional stop to discover traditional Berber attire. It’s a fun opportunity to try on the clothing, take memorable photos, and see local crafts like the scarves.

Upon arriving at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, your camels will be waiting to carry you across the golden sands into the heart of the desert. You’ll pause to witness a spectacular sunset from the top of a high dune. Later a magical  evening is waiting to have a tradional dinner and a Berber party with the locals. End your night by enjoy the shinning stars.

Day 3: Day of Desert Exploration: Nomads and Landscapes

An early start is rewarded with the breathtaking spectacle of a Saharan sunrise from a nearby dune. After a delicious camp breakfast, your deep exploration of the Merzouga region begins. Boarding our 4×4 vehicle, we will venture off-road to meet a nomadic Berber family living behind the dunes. This is an authentic opportunity to share a glass of mint tea, learn about their resilient lifestyle, and gain a unique insight into their rich culture.

The expedition continues to the historic mining village of Mefis, now deserted, and then on to Khamlia village to experience the powerful, spiritual rhythms of Gnawa music. Depending on the season, we may also visit the Lake of Merzouga, a temporary haven for migratory birds.

Following a break for lunch, we will proceed to your Riad at the edge of the dunes for check-in and an afternoon of leisure. You can relax by the pool or take a peaceful stroll into the sandy landscape. Later, dinner will be served at the Riad. For those who wish, the option to spend another magical night at the desert camp is also available.

Day 4: Merzouga Ziz Valley → Ifrane  Fes

After enjoying breakfast at your Riad, our journey northward to the imperial city of Fes commences. Our route first takes us along the spectacular Ziz Valley, where we will pause at a panoramic overlook to admire the vast river of lush palm groves.

We will continue our drive, stopping for lunch in Midelt or another convenient town along the way. Next, we climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains, traveling through the vast cedar forests that are home to the region’s native Barbary apes. Our final stop will be for a short break in Ifrane, a charming town whose pristine, alpine architecture has earned it the nickname ‘the Switzerland of Morocco’.

From there, we will complete the final leg of our journey to Fes. Your 4-day tour from Marrakech concludes as we drop you off at your designated Riad or hotel, leaving you with cherished memories of your Moroccan desert adventure.
