Itinerary

3 Days Desert Tour from Fes

Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Ziz valley Merzouga

The start of our desert tour from Fes proceeding towards Merzouga. The route offers a scenic drive through the Middle Atlas mountain range. Our first stop will be in Ifrane, a small city that is called the Swidzerland of Morocco or the little Europe.  After a short drive of 20 minutes we will stop in the Cedar forest of Azrou, where the Barbarian monkeys live. After a lunch break on the way. The journey continues through the notable Ziz Valley, an area renowned for its extensive palm oases and gorges. Upon arrival in Merzouga, guests will be accommodated at a comfortable hotel for the evening.


Day 2: Merzouga Cultural Exploration and Erg Chebbi Excursion

Following breakfast, the day’s program begins at 9:00 AM with a comprehensive 4×4 desert tour. The itinerary includes a visit to Khamlia village its inhabitants are originally from Mali and Sudan. We will  experience their typical Gnawa music. Our main stop of the day will be in the tent of a nomadic family. We will have a cup of tea with them. We will learn about their daily life and how they survive in the desert. We will discover a minning village called Mefis.

A special lunch will be served today which is the Berber pizza. The afternoon is dedicated to a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. On the way to the camp you will have a pause to enjoy the stunning sunset from a high dune. After a tasty dinner at the camp, you get ready to a Berber party with the drums played by the locals under a starry night.


Day 3: Merzouga → Rissani → Fes

An early wake-up call is rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise in the nearby dunes of the camp. As you can enjoy the sandboarding. After breakfast at your camp the way back to the town can be either by the camels or the 4×4 vehicle. Take the road  toward Rissani, known for its old local market and used to be an important location for the trading caravans. If it is the market day (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays), we can discover its bustling local market firsthand.

Afterward, we commence the return journey to Fes, traveling along the Ziz Valley and through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The tour concludes upon arrival in Fes, where we drop you off at your hotel or riad. End of our 3 days desert tour from Fes.

    How do I get to and from the desert camp?

    Your private driver will take you to the desert area, where you will meet the camel team or take a 4×4 transfer to the camp crossing the dunes with a stop a long the way to enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

    The following day, you will have again two included options for the way back, either camels or Jeep. Also you have alternative options with extra charge which are Atv quads or Dune buggy.

    What is the plan once we get to the desert camp?

    After enjoying the camel ride or 4×4 and the sunset over the dunes, You will check into your tent, have dinner, and spending the evening around the bonfire with traditional music played by the local under starry skies.

    The following morning, you can watch the sunrise from the nearby dunes to the camp, have breakfast, and then leave the camp by camel ride or Jeep to continue your Morocco tour.

    What activities can we do during this tour?

    Beside the activities that you have already included in the tour, you can enjoy extra activities as Atv quads, Dune buggy,or horse ride in the Sahara desert.

    Also you can enjoy a Hike in Dades or Todra Gorges. These activities can be requested during the booking process or during the trip too.
